Nursing Home Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy is recognised as having a vital part in the day to day lives of Nursing Home residents both in maintaining and maximising physical independence and ensuring day to day engagement in life and the associated mental health benefits. 

Fit For Life have a team of senior Occupational Therapists who have the skillset and experience to manage all types of referrals whether they are complex seating assessments or in-depth cognitive assessments.  

​The most common referrals for our OT services include:

  • Seating and pressure relief

  • Assisting activities of daily living (ADL’s) e.g. showering, eating, correct use of aids

  • Cognitive assessments

  • Recommendations for environmental changes to assist activities of daily living

  • Individual & group activity planning 

  • Discharge planning (respite or short-term residents) including follow-up home visits

Types of Occupational Therapy Services Include:

  • ½ Day in-house Occupational Therapy Services for Nursing Homes: ½ day or full day weekly (4-8hrs)

  • Extended in-house Occupational Therapy Services for Nursing Homes: e.g. 2 days p/week

  • Private In-house Occupational Therapy sessions: Individual resident's or their families can book private appointments with one of our team.

  • Online 'live' consultations

 

*All of these services are carried out by Occupational Therapists, members of the AOTI (Assoc. of Occupational Therapists of Ireland) and are CORU registered so you know you are in safe hands!
