Sitting Posture, Seating and Positioning Workshop
Overview
The difference to someone’s independence can simply be facilitated through correct seating. Recognising the challenges faced with the selection and purchase of seating, we aim to educate team members to understand the effects of correct seating and posture and care. We can also help with identifying the chair profile you have yourself and inform the team on resident suitability.
Outline:
-
Define sitting posture and seating and review how posture and seating affects function.
-
Identify the problems/risk factors associated with abnormal posture and seating.
-
Review chair mechanisms, such as ‘tilt and recline’ and ‘adjustable and elevating’ foot rests, to promote optimum sitting posture.
-
The workshop also looks at repositioning and using handling equipment combined with good manual handling.
Duration: This will vary from two to four hours depending on the pre-agreed scope.
Venue: The workshop can be completed in-house with current team members.
